About the Cessna Conquest


The Cessna 441 Conquest II (ICAO designator C441) was the first turboprop designed by Cessna and was intended to bridge the gap between their small jets and larger twin-engine piston aircraft. It was developed in November 1974, with the first aircraft delivered in September 1977. The aircraft was designed concurrently with the piston engined Cessna 404 Titan in the mid 1970s.

The Conquest is powered by two Garrett TPE331 turboprops powering two four-bladed McCauley propellers. The 441 shares a common fuselage with the Titan, but has a longer span (bonded and wet) wing, a pressurised fuselage and Garrett TPE331 turboprop engines. A PT6A-112 powered 441 (Cessna 435) first flew during 1986 but did not enter production.





The majority of Cessna 441's have been modified by installing Garrett TPE331-10 (normally upgraded from the -8) engines. This modification reduces maintenance costs while increasing horsepower, service ceiling, fuel efficiency and range. Cessna 441's with this conversion tend to have higher resale values (up to 100%) than aircraft that have not been converted. Upgrading to the -10 includes the installation of an EGT sensing system, substantially lowering maintenance costs. Further cost containment is realised by increasing TBO's (Time Before Overhaul) to either 5000 or 5400 hours - depending upon the maintenance interval at which the engine conversion is accomplished.

Converting from the standard three blade propellers to smaller diameter Hartzell four blade propellers results in a climb rate improved by 200 fpm (1.01 m/s) and a 5 kn (9 km/h) increase in cruise speed as well as reducing cabin noise and improving ground clearance.

The Cessna 441 is limited to a life of 22,500 hours by virtue of a Cessna Supplementary Inspection Document (SID). This life-limit SID is mandatory in the USA (and other counties) for air carriers operating the aircraft commercially but is advisory only for private operators.

A smaller aircraft was marketed as the Cessna 425 Conquest I, itself a turbine development of the Cessna 421.
